Our names are Nate and Jenny Schur. This is our first foray into the blogging world…well, Nate dabbled in blogging a few years ago, but he gave up quickly given all the research it required. We’re hoping that our life experience helps make posting to this blog a little more expedient to write.
Ten and a half months ago, we adopted a newborn baby girl; we’ll call her “Baby G” in these posts. Throughout the process of the adoption, we learned things about the undertaking that we never could have fathomed. In addition, there are certain products and activities that have to do with raising a child that we thought we needed, but were unnecessary, or that we wish we had known about in advance, and had not planned for. Well lucky for us, hindsight is 20/20 and we have the benefit of experience, because our daughter’s birth mother is pregnant again and wants to place with us.
Therefore, we thought, “What better time to write about our past experiences than?” We hope that our posts on parenting advice, product reviews, DIY projects, etc are helpful to expecting parents, adopting parents, first-time parents, as well as to veterans of the child-rearing world.
In addition, to the aforementioned topics, we also plan on telling the story of how we came to adopt our beautiful, perpetually bubbly daughter, and we’ll do so in the style of the Serial podcast. It’s quite the long story, so we figure that’s the most effective way of telling it.
We hope you enjoy our blog and we hope it helps make a modest difference in your life.
